What Voxara Is and Is Not
Voxara is a student-led volunteer platform that connects volunteers with communities that need them across four programs: music, sports, technology help, and tutoring. Voxara is not a medical, therapy, or healthcare provider and makes no health claims about its sessions.
Information We Collect
- Account information: your name and email address, which we receive when you sign in with Google, and your role (volunteer or host).
- Application details: your phone number and date of birth, the answers you give to the questions for the programs you choose, and — for hosts — your organization's name and address.
- Emergency contact: for volunteers, the name and phone number of the person we should contact in an emergency.
- Parent or guardian contact: for volunteers under 18, the consenting parent or guardian's name, email, and phone number.
- Messages: the messages you send to a host or volunteer through the Message Center.
- Location: your city or ZIP code, so we can show nearby opportunities. Your exact location is never stored. We only use it to sort results and forget it right after.
- Host-required documents: if a host asks for a background check, an ID, or another item, you upload that file to Voxara. These files are private and are visible only to you, that one host, and Voxara admins.
- Service hours: hours you log after a session are confirmed by the host. Voxara records confirmed hours and issues a certificate, but does not verify or guarantee the accuracy of hours reported by hosts.
Who Can See Your Information
- Your name and role are visible to the people you message or schedule with.
- Your messages are visible only to you and the person you are talking with.
- Your uploaded documents are visible only to you, the one host that requested them, and Voxara admins. No other host or volunteer can see them.
- Voxara admins can review records to keep the community safe.
- We never sell or rent your information, and we never share it for marketing.
Cookies and Local Storage
Voxara stores only what it needs to keep you signed in: a login token saved in your browser, plus your display preferences such as dark or light mode and large text. We do not use advertising or marketing cookies.
Service Providers
We rely on a small number of providers to run Voxara: Google (sign-in), Base44 (website hosting and database), and Stripe (payment processing, only if and when donations are re-enabled). We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
How Long We Keep Your Data
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete any document you uploaded at any time from your My Requirements page. You can delete your account and its data yourself at any time from Profile, then Settings, then Delete Account, or you can email joinvoxara@gmail.com to ask us to delete your account and data. When an account is deleted we remove the account, its messages, and its uploads.
Children and Minors
Voxara is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. Volunteers aged 13 to 17 may join only with a parent or guardian's consent, which we record with a timestamp when the application is submitted. A parent or guardian can email joinvoxara@gmail.com to review or delete their child's information. We do not display a minor's photo with a last name, age, school, or precise location on any public page.
Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
What Voxara Is Not
Voxara is not a nonprofit, a medical or healthcare provider, an employer, or an accredited educational institution. Voxara does not offer school credit, guarantee employment, or provide professional licensing. Service hours are confirmed by the host organization, not verified by Voxara. Volunteers are not professionals and should not provide medical, therapy, or healthcare services.
